Raiders Owner Mark Davis On QB Dilemma, Jakobi Meyers’ Health, And Tom Brady Is Here

Wed Oct 10, 2024, 2:14pm

There’s a lot to catch up on if you’re a Las Vegas Raiders fan. The Silver and Black’s owner, Mark Davis, addressed the quarterback position. Next, we discuss Jakobi Meyers’ health, and it’s official that Tom Brady has joined the team as a minority team owner.

By now, Raiders fans are more than familiar with the issues surrounding the quarterback position. Aidan O’Connell took over for Gardner Minshew this past weekend, and the results were the same: another Raiders loss. Though he did complete 27 passes, along with both a touchdown and an interception, O’Connell just simply isn’t a game-changer. To be fair, there are only a handful of those in the NFL. For the Raiders, it’s time they seek their own.

It turns out that Davis believes that too. During the NFL owner’s meeting this week, Davis took time to address the media and, in particular, spoke about the quarterback dilemma.

“Although Tom can’t play, I think he can help us select a quarterback in the future and potentially train as well.”

Yes, by “Tom,” Davis meant Tom Brady. In a moment, we will delve deeper into this, but the most noteworthy aspect of Davis’s statement is his recognition that the Raiders require a quarterback for the future. You could argue that he disregarded both Minshew and O’Connell, as neither is the solution. Or are we reading too much into it?

Tom Brady owns the Raiders (literally and figuratively)

The league approved Brady’s bid to become a minority owner with the Raiders prior to Davis’s comments. As most within Raider Nation will recall, Brady owned the team on the field, posting a 5-1 record. Now, he’ll own a part of it all. Grateful to Davis and the Silver and Black, Brady addressed the media as well, particularly thanking Davis for “welcoming me into his family and the tireless work he’s done to help build on the organization that so many fans know and love today.”

Tom Brady is now 6-1 against the Raiders in his career.

Despite discussing the future, the Raiders still have a significant amount of football left to play. They’ll need one of their biggest weapons on offense moving forward…

Las Vegas is missing Jakobi Meyers…

It was obvious last Sunday that O’Connell was badly missing the team’s top wideout in Meyers. Coming off a performance against the Denver Broncos where he hauled in six catches for 72 yards, Meyers was not able to go against the Steelers.

Earlier this week, head coach Antonio Pierce addressed the media and stated that Meyers did his best to get on the field against Pittsburgh. He remains optimistic moving forward.

“Yeah, I’m hoping so. Jakobi tried to give it a run on Sunday morning, just wasn’t able to do it.”

We can only hope Meyers will be ready for this Sunday’s showdown in Los Angeles against the Rams.
