Welcome to this new weekly segment where you get all the betting info you need on this week’s AFC West matchups. While the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos already faced off on Thursday night, we still have two more games to bet on this week. The Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans in a spicy Saturday matchup that could have significant playoff seeding implications.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a matchup that could have significant draft implications. Let’s get into this week’s picks!

AFC West: Betting Week 16 Matchups
Texans @ Chiefs
Chiefs ML (-185)
Texans to score 11-20 Points (+130)
DeAndre Hopkins Anytime TD (+235)
Parlay odds: +800
The Texans are 1-3 in games against teams with a winning record this year. In those games, the Texans have a record of 0-3 on the road, where they will face a Chiefs team that has consistently found ways to win. That being said, Houston did cover the spread in two of those three losses, and Kansas City has not blown out many teams this year. Therefore, even though the Chiefs are expected to win straight up, I would advise against betting on the spread, regardless of its narrowness. C.J. Stroud and company haven’t quite lived up to their lofty expectations this year offensively, and the Chiefs defense is playing great.
I think they hold the Texans to somewhere in the teens while their offense finds a way to score just enough to eke out a win. They have done it all year, by manufacturing points with a variety of obscure weapons on offense. One such obscure offensive weapon that has been playing well of late is DeAndre Hopkins. He presents an excellent opportunity to score this week at +235, in what is likely to be a revenge game for the veteran receiver. Parlaying these picks together offers some fantastic value, too, at +800.
Jaguars @ Raiders
Under 40.5 (-112)
Travis Etienne Anytime TD (+135)
Brock Bowers Anytime TD (+165)
Parlay Odds: +2100
Attempting to predict the outcome of this game is simply too intense to be bothered with. Neither of these teams looks like they can beat anybody right about now. A big reason for that is that this matchup includes two putrid offenses with abysmal quarterback play. As far as the AFC West goes, the Raiders will trot out either Aidan O’Connell or Desmond Ridder. Meanwhile the Jaguars will be rolling with Mac Jones. Hammer the under. Each team is expected to reach the end zone once or twice.
For Las Vegas, Brock Bowers looks like a very likely candidate to score, especially if we assume that O’Connell is starting. If it’s Ridder again, Bowers is still a solid pick, but you could always swap him out for Alexander Mattison, who has similar value. On the other side of things, I like Etienne to score against a Raiders defense that has struggled against a lot of running backs this year.
