Las Vegas Raiders fans aren’t too crazy about the notion of Aaron Rodgers joining the Silver and Black even with Maxx Crosby’s endorsement.
In case you missed it, social media has been ablaze after a recent episode of Crosby’s podcast, The Rush.
“I think with the doubt and all the negativity around Aaron Rodgers. I think he’s going to come back and have a big year this year and I hope it’s in our town.”
Now, there’s no denying that Crosby is at the moment still the face of the Raiders, their consummate franchise player. However, after what went down with former head coach Antonio Pierce last season and the perceived “threat” by No. 98 of requesting a trade if “AP” wasn’t given the full-time gig, you’d be remiss if some fans weren’t too crazy about any endorsements. Still, would it be crazy to say that Rodgers is an improvement over Gardner Minshew or Aidan O’Connell?
Should the Raiders really go after Aaron Rodgers?
Rodgers will be 41 years old this season and let’s be honest, he showed his age last season in New York. Right now, the Raiders need a long-term solution at quarterback; this year’s draft might provide an answer, or it may not. But the fact is, this squad isn’t close to being a Super Bowl contender; the playoffs might not even be feasible next season. So why go with Rodgers?
There are also concerns about the locker room, or at least the perceptions of the fans. Also, say the Raiders do draft a quarterback; is there any guarantee Rodgers would take on a mentor role? He was open to the idea with the Jets—perhaps he’d do the same in Las Vegas.
Considering the gauntlet that is the AFC West, the Raiders won’t be competitive unless there’s a plan at quarterback. The Raiders must question whether Aaron Rodgers can effectively bridge the gap in a division that includes Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and an ascending Bo Nix.
All of this to say that whether it’s on X/Twitter or via our Instagram, the idea of Rodgers hasn’t been received too kindly.
