Raiders Notes: Breece Hall Stirs The Pot, Does Mark Davis Deserve More Recognition?

Recounting the latest trending Las Vegas Raiders topics, the Davante Adams chatter just won’t go away, thanks mostly to Jets players. Also, does owner Mark Davis deserve more credit?

The Davante Adams rumors will not die…

Despite playing zero football, the Raiders’ star wideout has had an eventful week. Netflix’s Receiver series vividly captured his struggles last season, particularly his frustration with Jimmy Garoppolo and Josh McDaniels. At one point, Adams proclaimed he had enough. In fact, No. 17 stated that he hadn’t ever been “hit this many f****** times” in his career. Good thing for Mr. Adams—things got shaken up, and he remained a Raider.

But some folks just won’t let that be. Am I right, Jets?

First, we had Aaron Rodgers, who teased the media this week by mentioning he looked forward to playing with Adams again. We could probably chalk that up to him just having fun. Nevertheless, you then had the Jets’ star running back Breece Hall to join in on the fun as well.

While talking to Kay Adams this week, Hall weighed in on the Adams matter, specifically the possibility of joining the Jets.

“You never know… we’re always talking, we’re always scheming. I’m on board.”

Fans of both teams ran wild with this, as you may imagine. Be that as it may, Adams has recently gone on record explicitly saying he wants to be a Raider. Football season can’t get here soon enough.

Does Raiders owner Mark Davis deserve more credit?

Something noteworthy this week was a discussion that Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter had with regard to Mark Davis. Essentially, he talked about what the owner has been able to accomplish. As we all know, Davis was able to complete the relocation to Las Vegas, oversee Allegiant Stadium’s rise, and make the Raiders one of the most lucrative American operations around. Not one to mince words, Carpenter essentially declared Mark the better businessman than his father, the late (and legendary) Al Davis.

“He [Davis] has said this before; he is not the man that Al Davis was. We are not pretending that he is. But he is a 100 times better businessman than his father. He deserves all the credit in the world for that. He was able to move the team and get a new stadium with no lawsuits. Now they are rolling in money, and he is spending it.”

That’s quite a bold statement. Especially when you consider Al’s history—from taking over the reins of the Raiders to his battles with the NFL, etc. In all fairness, Mark has achieved financial success as an owner, but has he excelled on the field? Well, that’s a different conversation entirely…
