Should the Las Vegas Raiders and general manager Tom Telesco trade up in this upcoming draft? We took the question to Raider Nation. Meanwhile, Tyree Wilson has really come on this season—maybe he’ll be worth that first-round selection after all.
This year’s NFL draft is going to be an intriguing one for the Silver and Black. The organization could be facing a complete “reset” given the uncertainty of head coach Antonio Pierce’s future and that of many players on the roster. All of this indicates that the team is still in need of a quarterback for the future. Regrettably, this upcoming class falls short compared to last year’s group. Are the Raiders so desperate that they’re willing to trade up to convince their fans that they’re finally “getting” a signal-caller? It’s going to depend on what the team’s brass (Mark Davis and Tom Brady) wants.
As always, Raiders fans were not disappointed when we presented the question to them. Be sure to weigh in with your thoughts via our poll on X.
If you’re the Raiders, do you trade up in this draft for either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders?

Raiders GM Tom Telesco acquires the 1st overall pick in the latest mock draft scenario…
As things stand right now, the New England Patriots control the first selection in this draft. Well, Cam Garrity of the Patriots Wire recently came up with a trade scenario in which Telesco sends the Raiders’ first and second round picks for this year along with first and third round selections in 2026 and 2027. In return, Telesco receives the coveted first choice.
Would that be worth it?
Given Telesco’s track record in the early rounds, the Raiders could allocate a significant amount of starters in the coming years to help fill the roster. While it’s true that the Raiders are in need of a quarterback, making such a trade would appear desperate. Why not ride things out with Aidan O’Connell and instead draft one of the young quarterbacks in the mid-rounds this year?
Speaking of starters, it appears the Raiders may already have a future one in their ranks.
Tyree Wilson got it going in Year 2…
One of the few bright spots for the Raiders this season has been Tyree Wilson’s development. From late October onward, Wilson’s performance significantly improved. He recorded four and a half sacks, six tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble to boot. Of course, defensive line coach Rob Leonard deserves his share of the praise.

Pro Football Focus shed more light when they noted that Wilson posted eight pressures in Week 17—good for second among all players. It would appear that the Raiders do indeed have something with Wilson despite so many fans calling him a “bust” after just one season. Clearly, sacks captivate many fans, yet this statistic doesn’t encompass all defensive linemen.
Maybe Dave Ziegler was onto something after all.
