Ramble Film Room: Tre Tucker Full Film Breakdown, W12, 2024 – Raiders

Wed Apr 04, 2025, 5:11pm

The Josh McDaniels, Dave Ziegler era was short-lived for the Las Vegas Raiders. Although it lasted less than two full seasons, there was no shortage of memorable moments throughout this time period. The Davante Adams trade, for example, sticks out. As does the Jakobi Meyers signing. But perhaps the biggest surprise of this era was the selection of Tre Tucker in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Glued behind Adams and Meyers in Year 1, Tucker saw 334 offensive snaps during his rookie campaign. The Cincinnati alum was able to post 331 yards and two touchdowns on 19 receptions, giving him an average of 17.4 yards per catch. Additionally, Tucker was able to gain 77 yards on 10 rushing attempts, picking up an extra four first downs.

It was a promising start in limited time for the surprise third-rounder.

Tucker’s sophomore season would take an unexpected turn when Davante Adams didn’t suit up in Week 4 and beyond, eventually leading to the New York Jets acquiring the 32-year-old. The Adams situation led to Tucker totaling 50-plus offensive snaps each week from Week 3 onward, all the way until Week 18 where that streak would end.

This time, Tucker more than doubled his 34 targets in Year 1, seeing 81 passes his way in 2024. This led to 47 catches for 539 yards and three touchdowns–a promising stat-line, but one that still doesn’t explain exactly what the Raiders have in their young receiver.

That’s where we at The Raider Ramble come in. Here, you’ll get to see an in-depth review of Tre Tucker against the Denver Broncos in Week 12. Both Tucker’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as anything else you’d want to know about the 24-year-old.

Tre Tucker full film review – Broncos @ Raiders, Week 12, 2024

First, we’re going to start with the stats. Week 12 was a notable one in this regard for Tucker, who caught seven of the eight passes his way for 82 yards. This reception total tied a career-high he set in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers, but this time, it was done against a superior Denver Broncos’ defense.

Mostly known as a slot guy, Tucker spent 79.3% of snaps out-wide during this contest. No player on the Raiders had a higher percentage of snaps on the outside than the second-year receiver.

Altogether, quarterbacks Gardner Minshew and Desmond Ridder ended their day with a 109.4 quarterback rating when targeting Tre Tucker. Ameer Abdullah was the only player who beat this number when targeted, giving Minshew and Ridder a 131.9 passer rating.

The strengths and weaknesses of Tucker are going to show up in the film. We’ll go over that beforehand so nobody is going in blind.

Strengths

Tucker is Speedy–as we all know
High-effort, high-energy player
Better hands than expected
Good double-move in routes to lose defender

Weaknesses

Despite the good double-move, not a great route runner
Struggles to create separation in general
Although speedy, not exactly versatile
Lacks true elusiveness
Struggles at improving when plays break down

And finally, onto the film.
