With Matthew Stafford out of the question, the Las Vegas Raiders are now likely pivoting to a certain trio of quarterbacks to address their woes.
Last week, Stafford’s perceived journey to the Silver and Black captured everyone’s attention—indeed, we explored it thoroughly from every conceivable perspective. Yet, it proved to be in vain. The Raiders must now pivot and explore new possibilities. Unless, of course, the plan centers around Aidan O’Connell? In light of the Stafford fallout, league insider Adam Schefter recently identified three signal-callers to watch closely if you’re a Raiders fan.

Stafford may have been the best option available, but the Raiders wouldn’t trade a first-round selection for him. He may have been using Las Vegas as leverage to return to Los Angeles. No matter the result, head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek will now shift their focus. As far as the first-round pick goes, it’s obvious to anyone who understands football that Stafford is not worth that level of compensation at this point in his career.
As far as Darnold goes, it appears he’s the next best option on a surface level considering the season he had with the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately, we don’t know what his price tag will command if he becomes available. Then we have Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, who both saw some success with the Pittsburgh Steelers last year. In terms of resumes, Wilson beats out Fields. On top of that, you have the connection between Carroll and Wilson. Financially, Fields might turn out to be the cheapest option out of all of them this offseason. For now, we’ll continue to monitor the situation.
