The Las Vegas Raiders desperately need a new weapon for their offense after Davante Adams’ departure. Tyreek Hill is an explosive wide receiver—we all know the accolades: all of the Pro Bowls and All-Pro designations. The question is, will Sin City attempt to pursue another potential star (and diva) wide receiver?
Due to injuries sustained by Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and those the receiver is currently dealing with, Hill has had an inconsistent season. Statistically speaking, Hill has only crossed the century mark for receiving yardage twice this year, against the New York Jets (115) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (130).
Still, his impact is undeniable when he’s healthy. As the season nears its conclusion, speculation swirls about his potential offseason trade. According to Bovada, the Raiders are the favorite to land the former fifth-round pick this offseason. Hill posed a formidable opponent during his tenure in the AFC West with the Chiefs.
Last season was a historic one for “The Cheetah,” totaling 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns. However, 2024 has been a disastrous campaign for one of the fastest NFL players ever. Tagovailoa was injured for a portion of the season, but not much changed after his return. Consequently, Hill will finish with half of the stats he totaled last season. It’s unlikely that he eclipses 1,000 yards this season, so is it time for a change of scenery?

Why the Raiders should trade for Tyreek Hill…
Next season, the cap hit for the receiver will be around $28 million. Additionally, the Raiders will have some of the highest cap space in the NFL. Prior to his trade, Adams’ estimated cost exceeded $40 million. The West Alabama alum would serve as a direct replacement for him, albeit at a lower cost.
Adding a speedster should be a top priority this offseason for general manager Tom Telesco. It’s interesting because The 33rd Team recently ranked the Raiders as one of the top landing destinations for Hill if he’s indeed moved. On the field, the Raiders’ best field stretcher currently is Tre Tucker; while this isn’t a slight toward him, he’s not on Hill’s level.
Hill’s speed is what opened up the field for Travis Kelce, and it could be similar for Brock Bowers. The fact is, opposing defenses won’t be able to zero in on Bowers with No. 10 next to him. If the Raiders add a quarterback through the draft, the rookie will have a smoother debut with more talent surrounding him. Any quarterback would love to throw the ball to one of the most dynamic players ever.
What would a trade look like?
Star receivers occasionally grow dissatisfied with their current circumstances and undergo trades. In recent history, this has happened numerous times. In 2024, new teams acquired Davante Adams, Keenan Allen, and Stefon Diggs. All three of these players are similar in age, with their best years likely behind them.
Regardless of their talent, teams rarely trade older receivers for a first-round pick. “The Cheetah,” who recently turned 30, is likely to command a price tag comparable to that of Diggs and Adams. Diggs was traded for a second-round pick and Adams for a conditional third. Raiders should only consider this trade if it offers a comparable reward.
